Say Goodbye to Cooking Struggles with Rohin Malhotra

Cooking is fun, isn’t it?

It’s definitively healthier than eating out, that’s for sure, However, for some people, it might be too time-consuming to even consider it feasible so they give up without too much hope for a solution.

Well, companies like Nymble are working hard to change that.

The ingredient?

A private kitchen robot made for you

Curious to see how it works?

The dream

We sat down with Nymble’s Co-Founder, Rohin Maholtra because we were actually really fascinated by the idea of having a completely autonomous product capable of cooking our meals.  Rohin studied engineering, but the idea came as a combination of his and his friend and later co-founder as well, Raghav’s predicament at trying to cook for themselves.

They both enjoyed it…as something that was not done on a regular basis, there was just too much effort and time involved. Rohin knew this well because he saw how his mother would come every day after work to prepare his meals.

Nymbel had to be created

Revolutionary in its own right

Funnily enough, Rohin says that they haven’t invented a new way of cooking, they have just found a way to replicate the way humans cook. Which, just happens to be one of the main features that make Nymbel so unique. They actually base their design on the performance of a human chef.  It has the mechanisms to mix the ingredients, it works with an integrated high-resolution camera to regulate the heat, and it can make decisions by relying on AI.

Now,  that’s the perfect recipe, isn’t it?

Starting from scratch

Creating something new is amazing and probably it’s what every entrepreneur aspires to, however, the road isn’t free from challenges. If you don’t have any reference in the market that can guide you, then how the heck can you know if it’s going to work or not?  Literally building the robot from zero was the biggest challenge for Nymbel. Engineers would come and go with a myriad of options, but none seemed to be the user’s favorite. One had a robotic arm, that well...looked too scary, the other cooked only with a timer, a feature that only worked with a few recipes. Listening to their potential users was, according to Rohin, the most effective research.

Home-cooked stews but automated

Nymble might not be capable of baking or frying but when it comes to cooking stews, you won’t find anything better. Thinking about it, the possibilities are far from being limited, because if it’s cooked on a stove then Nymble can make it, yes, even desserts.  You only need to spend a couple of minutes getting the ingredients ready and loading them into the compartments and that’s it, the robot will take care of the rest, so if you have to go out and come back home feeling hungry, the meal is waiting for you.

An extra hour to the day

People are busy, it doesn’t matter where are you located or what your lifestyle looks like, odds are that you barely have time to fulfill your responsibilities, let alone enjoy time for yourself. Well, the magic of counting with a Nymble robot in your kitchen, it’s that you can defeat possibilities and live in a day where instead of just having 24 hours, you have 25. That extra hour that you would spend worrying about what to eat, is now completely free of cooking obligations.

Customizable

Rohin knows that the problem we face with not having sufficient hours to cook our meals is not limited to a single location. Matter of fact, we could dare to say, that’s a global issue. With that in consideration, Nymble has been built to satisfy the likes of international cuisines. On top of that, if you have some specific preferences, like changing the protein source or adapting it to health requirements, you can do it.

Be patient

When we asked Rohin for the advice he would give to the people who are considering starting a business, he earnestly answered that they, at Nymble, were still figuring out things so there wasn’t a piece of specific advice to share but if there’s something that he had learned during the past years is that patience is everything. The road of many founders is a lonely and sometimes quite long one, so being capable of moving at your own pace without feeling frustrated is probably one of the smartest things you can do.
