Ati Motors: Smarter Logistics, One Robot Away

Automation can really do wonders for your business.

What some years took hours or even days of effort now can be done in minutes and with higher degrees of precision.

The demand for automation in the logistics industry is growing and companies like Ati Motors are making a great business model out of it.

Let's learn how

Introduction

Today's guest is Naveen Arulselvan CTO at Ati Motors, a professional with an amazing background as a researcher and engineer. He has a PhD in Wireless Communication and spent the first 10 years of his professional experience working with cellular networks.

Changing logistics for the better.

At Ati Motors, Naveen and his team work together to create automated robots capable of making logistics and manufacturing processes a walk in the park. Take their Sherpa series of robots, for example, designed to operate in the most complex environments and still accessible without hefty investments.

A learning journey

A very valuable lesson Naveen shared with us is how so many members of the founding team aren't officially trained in robotics. They came from different backgrounds and had to see how their knowledge could merge to transform something as refined as an autonomous robot.

Removing difficult tasks

In robotics, there's a concept called the 3ds: Dirty, dangerous and difficult.

Ati Motors focuses on the difficult side of things, simplifying routine tasks that require hours to complete.

Efficient

The Sherpa series can handle tenuous work, lift hefty weights, and remain sufficiently quick to carry out items from one point to another without any issues.

How?

By keeping the design light so it doesn't lose speed.

Be open to change

Every business wants to be seen as reliable, right?

It doesn't matter how long you've been in the market, but especially when you're only starting, the last thing you want is to lose the trust of your customers.

One way to protect your reliability is by maintaining an open mindset for your designs. Maybe what worked for one prototype won't work for another so you've to be flexible enough to adapt to changes.

The case for robots

A common mistake people make regarding the popularity of robots is to think that automated machines can pose a threat to the human workforce.

Naveen however reminds us that just like with computers, automation is here to make our lives easier and create even more job opportunities for us.

Find your purpose

If you are considering starting in the business world with a startup, Naveen has a piece of advice for you: Find your true purpose.

What makes you happy?

What skills do you have that you feel could contribute to the creation of something bigger?

What specific problem in the world could you solve?

Once you find the answers, standing against the challenges will be more manageable.
